It really doesn't! (Especially if you have your own "petrol pump" on your drive). I just get in mine and drive it. If the battery gets low, I pull into a charging area and charge. It's really not that hard!

I've never found the need for a petrol/diesel pump in my drive. I have a pump just 1/4 mile away, and such is the fuel range, I could nip to the other end of the country, to instantly refuel, and absolutely no planning necessary.
If it sold diesel at 19p a litre you'd probably find a need quick enough though...
And yeah, I'd just get in mine and drive to the other end of the country right now if I needed to. I do it regularly enough anyway. I live in the North West corner of Cumbria, and there's a lab that we sometimes use for testing on the Kent coast. Take it from someone who does that trip regularly, it really isn't hard!
