Can I chase light cable through old lintel and mortar joints? Or angle light cable?

Need to move the light switch on the right to near the new entrance.

There is an old chased bit already there, but above doorway. Then above where I want the light switch is an old concrete lintel, which I guess might be a pain to chase out!

To make life a bit easier, I thought I could chase down the line or mortar. Would it be an outrage to use the existing chased bit above the door, then angle down to the soft blocks?

What makes you think you need to chase the cable in?

You could run the cable straight down the wall, without chasing, maybe cover with some pvc capping, then plaster over.

No the cable needs to be within a vertical Zone the width of the switchbox. likely about 86mm for a single switch, however within the first 150mm of the ceiling you are allowed to do what you want so you could come down the chase a little then go Right and down again, but not much point really.
