How Would You Chase This Cable Into The Wall?

What else do the regulations allow to be supplied by a circuit with undersized conductors?
Supplied through ??? How are accessories supplied?

Undersized by what criterion that is relevant to the accessories?

Anything plugged in or connected to the BS1363 accessories.
Are they somehow different than or superior to BS EN 60669-1, for example?

It is not a question of size wrt accessories.

Were it not for the exemption in 433.1.204, overload protection of a 2.5mm² cable with a 32A device would be non-compliant.

You asked:
What else do the regulations allow to be supplied by a circuit with undersized conductors?
So what difference does being on a ring make?

Is it not the case that accessories to BS1363 may be supplied through a radial circuit of similar or different characteristics?

Were it not for the exemption in 433.1.204, overload protection of a 2.5mm² cable with a 32A device would be non-compliant.
...but there are two of them (2.5mm² cables).

What relevance has that to the accessories?

Amended. Thank you Stillp

None to the accessories - you are looking at it the wrong way round.

Of course it is.

...but there are two of them (2.5mm² cables).
And unless they are installed and used in the way prescribed in 433.1.204 the circuit would be non-compliant.

None - you are looking at it the wrong way round.

433.1.204 does not mean that accessories to BS1363 may only be supplied through a ring final, it means that only they may only be supplied through a ring.

Analogies:

Only cyclists may use cycle lanes vs Cyclists may only use cycle lanes.

Jews may only eat kosher foods vs Only Jews may eat kosher foods.

Only sterile scalpels may be used for surgical purposes vs Sterile scalpels may be only used for surgical purposes.

Imagine the regulations without 433.1.204 and related. Everything is fine, and as you say, accessories to BS1363 may be supplied through a radial circuit of similar or different characteristics. Through a circuit with parallel conductors if you wish. Things which are not accessories to BS1363 may be supplied through a radial circuit of similar or different characteristics. Through a circuit with parallel conductors if you wish.

And at all times there are rules for overload protection. A ring using 2.5mm² cable and a 30/32A OPD, where the loads are not fixed and the conductors are not in parallel does not comply with those rules.

433.1.204 creates an exception for the circuit, and allows a ring using 2.5mm² cable and a 30/32A OPD, where the loads are not fixed and the conductors are not in parallel. But the only things it permits the circuit to supply are accessories to BS1363.

433.1.204 does not mean that accessories to BS1363 may only be supplied through a ring final, it means that if you have a ring using 2.5mm² cable and a 30/32A OPD you may only use it to supply accessories to BS1363.

None to the accessories - you are looking at it the wrong way round.
I feel you phrased the question the wrong way round.

433.1.204 does not mean that accessories to BS1363 may only be supplied through a ring final, it means that only they may only be supplied through a ring.
Analogies:
Only cyclists may use cycle lanes vs Cyclists may only use cycle lanes.

Only sterile scalpels may be used for surgical purposes vs Sterile scalpels may be only used for surgical purposes.
433.1.204 does not include the word only, therefore it does not mean only those may be supplied through that type of circuit.
After all, with the correct design, appliances, not to BS1363, may be supplied through a ring circuit without a BS1363 accessory.

433.1.204 creates an exception for the circuit, and allows a ring using 2.5mm² cable and a 30/32A OPD, where the loads are not fixed and the conductors are not in parallel.
Exactly - for the circuit.

If that were so - then - why?

What relevance are the exceptions to the accessories such that 20A switches would not be allowed?

or junction boxes?

433.1.204 does not include the word only, therefore it does not mean only those may be supplied through that type of circuit.
It does mean that, it does not have to have the word only, as it is defining an exception.

"Cyclists may use the cycle lane" does not create the right for motorists to use it because it doesn't say "Only cyclists may use the cycle lane".

Without 433.1.204 the circuit would be non-compliant.

After all, with the correct design, appliances, not to BS1363, may be supplied through a ring circuit without a BS1363 accessory.
That is not the case. My bet is that if you were to show such a circuit your design would be one which does not rely on the provisions of 433.1.204 to be compliant.

If that were so - then - why?
Because otherwise the circuit might be unsafe

What relevance are the exceptions to the accessories such that 20A switches would not be allowed?

or junction boxes?
Those are very good points - it is true that as written other accessories may not be used. Unfortunately for you, as soon as you question the intention of 433.1.204 in an attempt to resolve that it becomes clear that only BS1363 accessories can be points of use.
