Can I put a plug on a security light?

Hi,
I've recently purchased a 300W outdoor security light and wondered whether it would be ok to wire a plug onto the cable and have plugged into a socket.
Would there be anything wrong with this?

You can use a plug, provided that you use flex between the plug and the light (not twin and earth cable or anything else intended for fixed wiring).
