We have Ukrainian men getting their women and children safely to the Polish and other borders, and then going back to fight for their country.

On the other hand have mainly Young refugee men crossing the Channel by boat claiming asylum from war torn countries.
Is it in their culture that the women and children fight for their country?

What is your motivation for framing the question in that way?

If we compare with Syria:

1. Ukraine is run by a democratic government, which supports its citizens, Syria is run by a thug that bombs them.

2. the West is supporting Ukraine

3. the women and children aren’t staying behind in Syria, they have mostly left and stuck in refugee camps.

4. Syria is bombed out of existence, there isn’t anywhere for people to return to.

They send back money to their families and I have spoken to a couple of them and asked why their families didn't come with them.
There was indeed pressure for the females not to leave, but a main thought was that it was too dangerous a trip for them.

As for benefits, you obviously don't understand the actual system as opposed to what you read in the right wing press!

And anyway, since brexiteers claimed that foreigners were 'taking our jobs' I wonder how many have stepped into the jobs breach instead of filling out their benefit forms?

Well done to them, I wish them well, and any others like them. Sadly, they are probably an exception to the rule, and lets not forget, we have a vast army of home grown lazy sods and child bearing machines who will never work while the benefits make it more enticing not to. I've nothing against immigrants if they bring something positive to the country, some do, many don't.

Men leave predominately for several reasons. As head of family; as tougher individual; etc etc.
Yes races behave differently, selfishness plays a large part etc.
Humans aren't very nice really, they've evolved that way. Niceness is practiced by those who feel a benefit from doing so.

Women and children leave first if they have a hope of returning after the fight, and/or if it's the safest thing they can do.
