Don't knock what you don't understand

Never seen anything like it, can you zoom out a bit to get all the pipes in.

Looks like someones convrted a gravity primatic indirect to a fully pumped sealed s-plan.
With a 3bar blow off, mini-expansion vessel and a Y-strainer from the integral feed tank

corgiman got there first.

Its a home made store, using the coil as the heat exchanger

So the cold inlet to hot outlet is just one pipe. That runs through the store?

Makes sense. Thanks

But with a shock arrester, not an EV. ;)

But it is an expansion vessel (for DHW) with a capacity of a few litres. Presumably the flow and return connections from the sealed CH system (the flow connection can just be seen entering on the left in the first photo) must be to a second coil? I can't see how two separate coils can have been inserted. I'd want to have a closer look at it.

A heatstore I would say. I would have thought strainer should have been on the bottom connection as particulate matter could still enter the mixer valve (cold inlet). Another thing, I would be teeing off the cold feed after the pressure reducing valve (if that is what I think it is- blue topped valve)

I have ripped a fair few of these out

but I cannot for the life of me think what the big CH expansion vessel is for!

all the ones i have worked on use the "fortec" type bit to fill the rads and the heat store

I for one am foxed
