Why is plumbing such an enigma for so many house-holders ?

example from the other day (I'm a sole trader, work alone):

:) I draining hot distribution pipe alone in downstairs bathroom (I forgot to open upstairs taps).

 I shout upstairs "would you be so kind as to turn on your bathroom taps please sir"

result:
1.chap opens gate valve in airing cupboard :?:
2. I get lap full of hot water
3. end of thumb cooking while placed over end of drain valve, frantically adjust bacho to fit drain off.

conclusion

glad I'm not doing electrics :!:

Some customers can be a real help, others can be a death trap, I always check with multimeter before touching cables when a customer says he has turned the power off as quite a few times it aint.

If you're doing work on the downstairs part of a soil stack, then make sure you duct tape the upstairs loo seat down along with upstairs taps....

I've not had an unpleasant experience in that regard, but its always worth checking and double checking when you're doing nasty jobs.
