Got to change out 2 BC ceiling pendant holders in a living room. In other rooms i have used E27 Corn bulbs which i have been very happy with and would like to use again.

Is it possible to get E27 pendant holders in the UK, i see their are BC to E27 converters that slot into the BC pendant but not sure if these are ok for the UK ?

They can't be any worse than the Legrand trash I fitted last year. I was very disappointed with their ES lamp holders.

Surely it's getting harder and harder to buy BC lamps?
Where? Every shopper or supplier I know who sells lamps/bulbs offers BC ones. What do you think they are 'giving way' to - ES, or maybe G*nn ones?

For what it's worth, virtually all the (very many) lamps/bulbs in my house are BC ones, and I haven't yet had any trouble at all in getting replacements when I need them.

Kind Regards, John

Well - I just checked 3 online specialist lamp suppliers (I mean that is their speciality, not that the lamps are specialist ones) and TLC. The numbers of ES/SES lamps they offer outweigh BC/SBC by between 27 & 98%.

The last time I checked in B&Q they didn't have one light on sale which had a BC holder, and they had far more ES/SES than BC/SBC lamps on the shelves (can't quantify by how much). It's not a vague feeling - I was specifically checking, because I'd popped in to pick up an ES pendant, and was gobsmacked to find that all they had were BC ones, and I wanted to illustrate to them how bonkers that was, given the dominance of ES in their lights and their lamps.

I believe that far more countries use ES than BC.

So yes - I think that BC is giving way to ES.

I have 2 lights left in my house which use BC lamps - chances are that when the last of my spares is used up, I'll change the lights or the lamp holders so that I'm 100% ES.

You see this with LED lamps, especially in higher wattages.

It's my opinion that this is because the importers ship them both, and customers buy the BC ones, leaving behind all the ES that nobody wants, on the shelves.

You could parallel-import ES from any other European country, and make more profit.

And do the customers then rearrange the ES ones on the shelves, and remove and hide shelf-edge labels, so that it only looks as if the policy is to have more ES than BC?

I can't speak of the shops, but online .... a search for "B22 lamp" gets zero hits, but a search for "B22 light bulb" :)-) ) gets ...

Well the thing that annoys me is I feel like I need an electric screwdriver to put in an ses bulb it's so many turns, but BC is just push, twist and you're done. Plus it's either in or it's out, not just loose and flickering.
