Ceiling Rose loop-in

Guys. I installed a new ceiling light. There was no facility on the new light to group the loop-in live wires (3) so I stuck them in the brass connector that was in the old standard fitting and wrapped insulation tape around it. Is this acceptable? If not, what should I have done?

Oh dear....

should've used a piece of terminal block

I thought he meant he'd connected it to the brass earth terminal at first
