Very good lights

"These are a bit more expensive than most energy saving bulbs.
However they light up to full power quite quickly, give a very good light and look good in the fitting. They also take up no more room than a standard tungsten bulb."

I would not consider £239.99 (inc. 20% VAT) as a bit more expensive. I would consider that a lot more expensive!

well mines been in for 4 years and still works..4 quid over 4 years is not too bad i dont think.

In fact, ive only ever replaced 1 CFL in my house since i moved in, and that was because i unscrewed it and dropped it when changing the lamp shade!

Or if it's the other way around, and it's a banker's bonus of £4M which cost the rest of us £2Bn.

It is if it only cost 20p to make.

Not really,

nothing we buy is at cost.

At my work were making a cosmetic product which costs 88p per 250ml bottle, and its selling like gold for £90 per bottle.

iPhone 4S costs around £100 to manufacture including parts, and its selling for up to £700

I dont see why lamps are any different! it would be nice to buy everything at cost, but such is life.

Contents 8p bottle 80p perhaps ? With cosmetics quite often the container costs more than the contents. And the bottles are shaped to make the contents look larger than they are.

But never mind ladies, most men appreciate you buying expensive bottles and using the cheap contents to make yourselves even more attractive.

I heard a story once about Aston Martin, shortly after it had been sold by the receiver in the mid-70s, having gone bust partly because of a rather poor understanding of costs.

As they were trying to sort things out, a long-time customer who had bought a new car every year for ages, and had fallen on hard times, asked if he could this once, in recognition of his purchases over the years, buy his new car at cost.

"Certainly," they said, "that'll be £2000 more than the list price."
