Yes it is. Downlights are generally supplied with one.
If you have purchased things which do not include any terminal box then they need to be returned as they are not fit for purpose.
Them lampholders not really suitable, should now have extra insulation and cable restraint.
Your lampholders and them open fittings is how things were done years ago.
Not ideal but ones from screwfix may do the job
