I'm am looking for peoples opinions on which is the cheapest mail order wholesaler.

I think the cheapest Ive found is TLC Direct does anybody know anybody that is even more competitive with prices? They must be able to sell to general public and deliver.

Thanks in advance!

Depends what you are buying, I get trunking from Wf Senate because they are consistantly cheaper than Eddies.

Eddies are cheaper for certain types of cable and so it goes

I notice you are in lincolnshire... if you are anywhere near a branch of lincs electrical, they are normally quite good on price

Try Screwfix for value - remember their prices include VAT, so undercut most electrical wholesealers by twenty percent!

When I was S/E, I used to go to ABM in Croydon. He used to beat any genuine price I'd give him.

Will Mail Order too, but I used to go down there.

The only problem I have with the local eddys is the amount of toys they have dotted around the sales area, usually costs me a fortune

I tend to mainly use Screwfix, and TLC for most stuff.. find them to be just about the cheapest and to be honest on most stuff I would be surprised if they wasnt because of their buying power.. it allows them to buy in much bigger quantities than most small wholesalers can and negotiate a better purchase price with their suppliers.

TLC I find also, they are cheaper on some things than their catalogue price if you have an account with them and are on their system. Ive got some kind of cash account.

I once went in there almost daily buying bits and the guy shoved me on their system, ever since then some items I buy have been cheaper than the catalogue price (not everything.. just some items) so now every time I order in there, they ask if im on their system, I say yes then they ask for my post code and house number to find my details.

like other day, I priced up a few hundred quid worth of stuff.. when i actually went in there it was a lot less lol so I asked the guy to bung 2 RCBOs on the order.. which brought me up to the total I was originally going to spend without the RCBOs.

That rather depends on whether or you click on "Show Prices Ex VAT" or "Show Prices inc VAT" on their website :-)

Kind Regards, John

Tlc do offer discount on there prices.

I saw my local branch manager after half a dozen rewiring projects and asked. They could see the volume of my purchases which must have indicated I was loyal and also a high value customer, and now automatically throw in discount against my cash account. Think it's about 5%

I suspect that the days of wholesalers refusing to sell to the general public are long gone.

Large organisations, e.g. distributors, may well not be set up to deal with small orders from individuals and are only interested in B2B, but any wholesaler who sells to individual electricians is going to unnecessarily limit his sales if he won't take money from anybody who wants to give it to him.
