I know brake fluid formulations change and old ones should not be used in modern cars.

Brake fluid is hygroscopic. Take care with old fluids!!

Get a Landrover Defender, preferably with 100K plus on the clock as its then just about run-in and the niggles will have been sorted.
Dead easy to service. Just check it's got 4 wheels every so often, and top up the engine oil once a day (most Landrovers come with self-draining oil seals as standard) and it'll last you a lifetime.

latest MOT tests require that Power steering fluid is at its minimum level or above, below it - its a failure.
