A Chipped bin and waste weighed and identified by owner might work in the leafy suburbs of Sale and Doncaster.

I presume you've not been to Sale's racecourse estate then JohnD?

You are quite right Simon, however, I suspect you mean the Avenue.

For those that don't know the area, we are talking about a very leafy part of Sale, until that was, The labour controlled Manchester City Council gerrymanderers built a slum estate on greenbelt land just down the road.

This was years ago and the estate was permanantly bogged down with crime, violence, vandalism and drug abuse, most parts were no go area's. It was, fairly recently, practically given away to a housing association, who are now trying to sort out the mess.

Still its only "our" money isn't it.

I suppose this is an area that has a lower council bacnd tax too - you know, the type of area that uses more police, fire, ambulances than higher rated tax areas, what a state this country is in...

This is all b*llocks ,
an just a money making scam ,

terry a mate who works on my bin round told me half of the collections just get mixed an landfilled ,lol...lol..lol

I tuck this up with my ward councillor at his surgery he has an he said that when the depots are full they "have to " landfill it , flippin Manc City Council ,
a Shower of T*ssPots ,......
What hell are we paying council tax for , ??

they charge £10 for a broken dyson (any sized electrical item )to be removed here ,
I threw it on the dust cart an the lads took it for me ,
Last night at our Neighbourhood Watch I nearly had a riot over this bin issue ,
I joked we should get down London in Trafalgar Square rioting an I got quite a few agreeing ,all of them all middle classes ,yuppie types

the point being as this guy called Henry said
"Its ok for Moz he doesnt work an can sit at home all day washing an sorting his waste an going too the tip but most here we work 9/5 ,an we pay the middle band community charge rate an they dont take our bins if we havent picked labels off of our empty tins ,for Gods sake ,its ridiculuous !"
Everyone agreed I did but pointed out I dont just sit indoors claening an sorting my rubbish all day long ..,lol
(cheeky Get,I can see his point )

Dont get me wrong Im all for recycling BUT I dont pay the council to do that an then do it myself ,
why keep dogs an bark yourself ,lol :)

I can see huge public unrest over this money scam ....
the council sell the recycled waste ,
where does that revenue go , my councillor says it goes back into services , so why do we pay for refuse collection in our C/Tax ????...lol

B'liar should start to Fear us the General public , he has put the new council tax band recharges on hold til after the next Gen Election , the last socialist labour man in Govt,
Frank Fields MP ,My Hero ! :)

says " you must expect them to go up 2 or 3 bands ,ok if you can afford it but its not the publics fault house prices have tripled over the last 10 years ,is it ?"

mozs posse will be making the molotov cocktails in the pinot bottles ;)

*moz gets of soap box an pushes it in the corner *

No, they don't go faster...!

There are moves afoot to build chips into bins so that the authorities know how much rubbish we are throwing away. The less we throw away, the more we are recycling, goes the theory.

Now, I think we need to get up there with the likes of Holland where recycling is big. Even France recycles 10% more than we do!

There is limited space for landfill, and unless we want to live on a rubbish dump, I strongly feel we need to recycle as much as is possible, but for us to do this, those wanting us to recycle more have to make it easier for us. I went to the tip the other day with some aluminium cartons which I normally dump with the ally cans. A tip worker told me they don't accept aluminium other than cans....to my mind what's the difference? They're both the same metal... Its the same with plastic.. if your plastic comes in the form of bottles, that's OK. If it's jar lids, yog pots etc.. they don't want it. Crazy!!

Yes secure spark you make some good points. However I have a couple of concerns about this proposal:
a) This business of adding a micro-chip to your wheelie bin is to facilitate weighing your rubbish. In future, You will be billed for the amount of rubbish that is collected from your household (and will therefore pay less the more you re-cycle), and this new tax will be in addition to your council tax.........that already covers for the collection of household refuse.
Question.......why are we being charged twice for the same service?

b)If the government or your local council want to "talk big" about recycling, then maybe they should start dealing with the packaging, manufacturing and retail industries. Where the problem originates!
I guess it is easier to victimise the public on an individual basis though.......

WHAT a good idea ! NOT
2 issues here that spring to mind right away, larger families will naturally have more rubbish than a single person - although the singly may well have more cans and pizza boxes!.
If you are charged more for having more rubbish, will people a:) put rubbish in the bin, or b:) find some other way around it such as dumping it in the bin outside the papershop (if it isnt on fire) or just dumping it.

This has fired up ALL general public Feeling of hatred to local councils ,
I can see unrest ...

moz , stops washing his tins out in protest , an puts dirty tins in tin bin lol ;)

I never said it was a good idea!!!

We have to recycle more, but this is not the way to do it. Our council chiefs need to go over to the countries that do a good job of it and find out how. This is not the way forward.
