Coax wall boxes

When fitting a socket for a tv coax if the cable is straight through the wall can you fit a socket without a back box ?

Not really. to what would you screw it.

There are knock-outs in the back of the box.

just though if there was somethong you could but because I could not be ar5ed putting a box into the wall and then I have just looked at some on fleabay and I could use a surface mounted back box.

A surface mounted coax socket would probably be neater than a flush socket on a surface mounted box.
