We are planning a kitchen which is very limited for space would it be legal to have the sink bowl under the boiler overlapping by about 100mm.The distance between the bottom of the boiler and the sink is 600mm.

this is an interesting one that i have come across before!! I saw a boiler above a sink on a landlords gas safety cert and the fused spur was about a foot away from the sink! (on the wall)

Now i knew about distances in the bathroom zones etc and thought this was definitely a wrong 'un, because of distances when your hands could be in water and touching electrics!

Anyway rang corgi installers helpline and they said there were NO regs against it!! amazed me but there you go! p.s. would speak to a sparky in case current elec regs have changed but it should be ok. Nothing against gas regs. hope this helps

I've seen them over sinks - very handy when changing a plate HE or Diverter !! Definately more of an Electrical Question I'd move the post to Electrical

I believe the minimum distance of a socket from a kitchen sink is 300mm. I don't think there is any restriction on positioning an FCU close to a sink other than selecting one suitable for that environment.

that would drive me nuts your at the sink doing the dishes boiler 1ft in front off my nose and needing to raise the plates to eye level to stack on the dish rack
