You would have to terminate the cable in a maintenance free (screwless) junction box. With the necessary cable clamps, all at the appropriate rating (which you dont know yet) and correct size.

This would have to be secured (not left floating) to a joist or the like under the floorboards.

That would just about be deemed permissable.

Thank you very much for your help with this.

I don't know the appropriate rating and correct size, how would I find this out?

I thought using one of those boxes I could just wire them up, screw the whole thing to a joist and have done with it?
