Consumer Unit Full - Fitting an RCD or RCBO

Having an isolator switch in the tails feeding the CU (or that beloved device of the electricity companies DNO departments, the 100amp Switch Fuse!) helps to ensure complete safety, as you can shut off the supply completely before going inside that consumer unit to tighten connections for example.

True - but the new regulation didn't come with any encouragement to install such items.
