Could you please explain the nuances and protocols for when to use the "Thanks" vs "Like" buttons?

Dunno tbh

it got changed a few years back

than there never used to be a like button

imho if say some one genuinely helps you out with a tech question
Like why is my boiler got a particular error code
Than it’s a thanks

agreeing with some ones opinion may be a like ??

for example if some one posted up transam is a scum bag ? Certain people would put up a like which would indicate that they do think transam is a scumbag

so on and so forth

mind u it works both ways because if some one put up
A post saying so and so is a scum
Bag I would like there post

My op any way

One of the reasons I don't do Facebook

We need more than a thanks and a like to show gratitude or other.

My mate Cod on Facebook posted how much his haemorrhoids was giving him grief.

He got 9 likes and 2 thanks for that information.

Thanks is a post that helps you or gives you useful information. A like is when you agree with what's being said.

Or in other words, a thanks is a message to the person who wrote the post, a like is a message to everyone else to say you agree with the post.

If someone helps you you thank them, so it's generally responses to your own post/question.

if you like a post you like it, a liked post does not have to be aimed at you, just something that you agree with or like.

Some examples:

I ask the question: What colour is the sky?
Bodd answers me: The sky is blue

I thank Bodd for the answer.

Someone tells a joke, I think it's funny - I like the post.
A photo of some cute puppies is posted, I like the post.
