CSCS card with no NVQ or G&G???

my thoughts
a lot can happen in three years he may have been complete carp when he first started:D
also its possible that something got lost in translation and three weeks was no where near the time
or even the award was one off those phony ones with only those paying for each level get entered in a similar way to the supermarket getting gold awards because they pay for the stickers

There are many men and women within the building trade that have worked for three or four years to become qualified, how on earth can anyone squash all the training these people have had into just three weeks?
For us it was a minimum of four years then at least a year as a journeyman-improver away from your original employer (and that was carpentry AND joinery). There is no way in the world that a modern C&G/NVQ3 in 3 years gets anywhere near the depth of instruction in the 1960s or 70s (and I've had a few apprentices who certainly prove that statement). Even getting to the end of the C&G didn't make you a time-served man until you'd finished your indentures. Probably the only place still left doing those today is Germany.

The guy's three week course would have been to end as an NVQ2. After that he's practised - a lot. He may well have won a "best plasterer" award - but how good will he be at rendering, Artexing, lime plasterwork, in-situ plaster moulding work (skirtings, freizes, etc), polished plaster, etc? - all of which a fully trained, experienced plasterer should be able to do. What's the betting he's only ever dealt with gypsum plaster skimming and maybe a bit of taping and jointing (there are loads of plasterers like that). On the other hand he may be an exceptionally talented individual who picks things up really quickly, who knows?
