Hi All

I am replacing the door architrave as part of a house renovation.

The new stuff is about 2cm wider than the old which is ok for the most part, but some of the doors are too close to the wall for the new stuff to fit without cutting down.

So my question is what is the easiest way to take of 1-2cm from the width of the architraVe - it is the painted mdf type. If i need to hire a tool can anyone recommend the correct spec.

any advice would be great

cheers

Lee

Circular saw with a fence, and clamp it to a work bench, whilst avoiding your fingers and the bottom of the bench. just trim the back edge.

ok thanks, i have a circular saw.

i was worried it would chew the wood up, but i will give it a go

It might chew the wood up if you have a rough cut blade. try on a bit of scrap to see what its like..
