Death of democracy

No idea who that women is so searched:

https://www.theguardian.com/politic...-article-50-brexit-parliament-legal-challenge

Jumped up ex-migrant telling us what can and cannot happen in our country... The usual story we've been seeing for the past 20 years or so.

I say she ought to be careful, because if she and people like her underestimate the passions some people have for brexit, it might be the last thing she ever does.

Is it Democracy if one person can dictate and instigate the terms of Brexit, or should all our elected MP`s have a say with their opinions ?

Death of democracy?

The stupidity of that statement is jaw-dropping. It goes a long way to explain why the electorate voted out in the first place as it shows a complete and utter misunderstanding of the issues.

Our democracy is based upon us electing MPs to represent us.

You remember the silly statements like "let's take control back from the EU!" right?

That means we want PARLIAMENT rather than the EU making decisions for us.

This decision is EXACTLY what that means. We want Parliament to make this decision, not Boris Johnson, not Liam Fox, and not Theresa May.

Remember the referendum is an ADVISORY decision. It is not legally or constitutionally binding.

We voted out. I accept that even though I'm a remainer. However what does "out" ACTUALLY mean? No one knows. Surely it's obvious that we should wait and see what Brexit actually means first.

We're going to leave.

However our MPs asking for details around our strategy, what the implications will be etc, is not "going against the will of the people".

It's simply a way for our representatives to scrutinise what is going on and to make sure we're getting the best deal.

Did the referendum say "do you want Liam Fox, Boris Johnson and Theresa May negotiating Brexit for us on their own terms and without any input from Parliament - yes or no"?

NO!

The majority voted out, end of.

Our MP is a lib dem , but our constituency was one of a few in Greater London that voted to leave, what is the chance of him representing us by voting to leave?
More voted to leave than stay, that is a MAJORITY Johnd, or can't you grasp that. If you don't vote you get what you deserve.

More voted to leave than stay

Yes, and by a margin which Farage said in advance would not be conclusive.

The diehard Quitters will not change their minds even when the terms of resigning become clear. If 2% of the rest of the voters do, will you call that undemocratic?

I see, so you don't understand democracy. That's fine.

You prefer an unelected PM to trigger Article 50 without going through Parliament first. You remember Parliament don't you? That place where you want all your important decisions rather than the EU, as you see it as being democratic.

Or do you think only the people in your constituency should have voted on this? No? So why bring up such a small portion of the population?

Try to remember that the referendum is advisory. A court ruling is not. For us to ignore it would render us unconstitutional, and the EU could be in its right to reject the triggering of Article 50 and refer the case to the European court, which could end up with us staying in the EU. Do you want that? Or do you want the PM to go through Parliament first?

Your Constituency voted that Gibraltar leaves the EU, out of a population of some 20.000 only 800 Gibraltarins voted to leave,
They have a majority to stay in the EU, should the people of your Constituency dictate they should leave the EU ?

Well, simply because it is the law.

It is not the result of the referendum which they are debating.

It is if the Prime Minister can do something without Parliament.
