It follows, ish, that of all the humans who ever lived, about 7% are alive now.
There were only ever a few hundred thousand neanderthals, but we each have about 20% of theor DNA. Of course that's subject to statistical variation. In the case if certain pipe-strangles it's clearly a lot higher.
