Defective light switch

The right-hand button on this three gang dimmer switch isn't working properly. I sometimes have to press it a dozen times or more before it engages. I suspect I'll simply have to replace the unit, but thought I'd post here first to see if there was a way of rectifying the mechanism.

You could try squirting some WD40 in if possible or take it to pieces if you are mechanically minded.

Are there three separate units on the back which unscrew?
If so pull off the knob and undo the nut and just buy a single gang (or double if you want a spare) plastic face plate switch of the same make and model and swap over the switch module.
 
I tried the WD40 approach, unscrewing and squirting into the mechanism, without success.
The alternative you suggest sounds a bit complicated! But thanks anyway.
