Diane Abbott - Twitter remark

Actually history shows us divide and rule was a very much used strategy by colonialists who were cough cough white in the main
You have a highly selective and biased memory in your usage of "history". Such methodologies to overcome existing groups goes back way beyond the 19th and 20th centuries and involves peoples from a wide variety of relative indigenous backgrounds over several millenia. You may wish to study the Proto-Indo-European etymological base of the word "colony" as a starting point.

If you cant beat em f""k em

Did she just say sorry?

Oh yeah, thats fine then ehh?
No way Pedro - she should be hauled in front of the race relations board and made to explain her crass remarks.

She made an unacceptable comment on a publicly accessible media, as do a few posters on DIYnot.

Should they also be hauled in front of the race relations board and be made to explain their crass remarks?

At least she had the graciousness to apologise and was rebuked by her leader. Do the posters on DIYnot apologise for their crass remarks? Are they rebuked?
No, they continue, and are allowed to continue, making crass remarks.

You are heading for a ban matey-boy.

So we should have MPs who are from ethnic minorities just because they have a certain skin colour and/or hail from a certain ethnic group? That's a rather narrow minded view. Would it not be better to have MPs who are fair and deal with issues regardless of their own skin colour? Why not have ALL black MPs? Their skin colour should not make any difference to you or anyone else. Their views and intellect is what matter surely?

Fully agree with your comments, Blas.
Sorry I'm so late to the party, excuses elsewhere.

The pragmatic solution to the question of minority MPs, (Gender, Ethnicity, Disability, etc) is somewhere in the selection process, of suitable candidates to represent appropriate parties and wards.

It's generally accepted throughout the media that if she was white and slagging off the blacks - she would be gone by now.

Perhaps there's just an element of a black person using abusive language against white people is an infrequently recorded event.
Whereas, a white person using abusive language against black people, is not quite so infrequently recorded and would be very much 'up there, in the headlines' based on very recent news.

Maybe there are more white people than black people.
