Diesel and Petrol prices

Diesel here now £1.62,
Looking back at my receipts I see I was paying £1.42 in Feb 13

so that is an average yearly increase of 1.4%

and I now average 58mpg instead of 51mpg

So my fuel per mile has only risen from 12.65p to 12.69p

I better stick another tenner on my call out charge!

ASDA Monday - £153.7
ASDA Tuesday - £155.7
ASDA - Wednesday - £159.7

Asked at customer services, and also the security desk, if there had been two deliveries that week. Both said last delivery had been on Saturday.

Asda has always boasted about having "Everyday Low Prices" rather than the short-lived and deceptive offers that other supermarkets use.

I think they are the best of the big four for value, and so shame on them if they are profiteering from this misery.

Where we live been out, 181p diesel the ordinary dtuff and I'm guessing the higher grade stuff is 10p more expensive.
Local Morrisons 164.9 I think or close to 166. Was 151 a couple of weeks ago.

Custom and excise bods along with plod will be increasing

spot checks on dipping fuel tanks ;)

Wish I still had my Monty. :(

Ran on chip oil a treat, no nesh injector systems on that!

Someone told me the other day that there is a place in London where drivers have been getting red diesel for a long while and now its taking off that was a couple of days ago and prices have gone up since.

Newer cars can take red diesel as most will be aware it's just an additive to catch out those that break the law. The newer cars we have
are filled up with premium diesel on alternate top up and we always fill our cars to the brim. The BP stuff is often at least 10 more expensive than standard diesel.

Using red diesel illegal means having your car seized in some cases from what I have seen on tv and a criminal record and a fine.

Someone we know that uses red diesle said it was about 44p cheaper a while back something to do with tax rates so the difference must be greater now.

It's cheaper because it is taxed on the basis that the vehicles that use it will not be pounding public roads.

Asda had jumped 5p from £159.7 to £164.7 this morning.

No the price is £1.64 and 7/10 but it displays on their board as 164.7 because you can't have 2 decimal points in the same number.
I admit it does look huge the way I have typed it because of the £ sign.

Returning home from a night out a bit earlier we noted several petrol stations selling at 181.9 and one at 182.9.
IMO it's going to get worse before it gets better. This will impact almost everything and add fuel to the already rocketing cost of living.
Chating with the family when we were out tonight we all came to the consensus that diesel/petrol rises can be mitigated by most by driving
less and changing to a small car but the rocketing elec and gas prices especially in winter is harder to tackle especially for the older and/or frail who
are often at home and feel the cold more than the able-bodied.

Not sure what the immediate solution is other than to raise taxes by 5/10p and give a discount on fuel prices to all aged 60+ and
or on disability benefits.

Red dye is put in the diesel as a visual marker

but it is possible if You are in the know to take the red dye out

That removes the visual indication
But there is also another trace element in the diesel that can be tested for ;)
