DIYnot members fading?

Dear all.

I sparingly come on this forum, but when I do, I view the posts, mainly the ones that are associated with DIY - I did get help on here with a past project that I had done.

Sometimes I used to go on the general discussion, but now a lot of posts are separated - some are on the GD and some are on the current affairs subforum. Since being logged in into an account is a pre-requisite to viewing the current affairs sub-forum, I did honestly start to stop viewing DIYnot lately.

However, what I wanted to ask is, I've seen a lot of members fade out recently. Apart from Harry Bloomfield and JohnW2, who we know have left this world!, members such as EFLImpudence, RandomGrinch, Jurassicspark, Vinty7, Notch7 and carmanmemoranda - these are the members that I can recall from the top of my head ATM - have all disappeared.

Is there a reason why?

Perhaps they got banned - I'm just curious that's all. Although I do understand that it's not any of my business.....

I reckon Notchy had a serious issue, you don’t suddenly stop posting half way through NY day for no reason. Likewise Vinty. Send not for whom the bell tolls etc. Some are name changers.

Vinty might have been touring with Ed Sheeran in which case he should be back soon, I think Notch just started to take things a little too seriously and it affected his wellbeing.
I miss the old Notch, the latter incarnation not so much.

I'm guessing some people might have just thought "OK, I'm spending a fair bit of time on this forum, and I need to focus more on real life" and then they just quit the forum.

Or perhaps the forum might have been becoming more "toxic".

I do know that some people on here are quite old in age so without any precautions put in place, one will just keep wondering where they went.

I take part on another forum which is different to this one in terms of the main subject (DIY) but if I leave for more than a week, I start to get recurring emails telling me to open up the site again - wonder if DIYnot does that too.

Some of you may have noticed that we have seen/heard nothing from EFLImpudence for a couple of months, which is very unusual for him.

There could, of course, be any number of explanations (a 'world cruise'? but, for what it's worth, he has not yet responded to private messages from me in DIYnot, neither has he or anyone else responded to e-mails I've sent to an address I have for him and, as yet, DIYnot admin has not been able to assist.

I will obviously keep you posted if I discover anything more but, in the meantime, if anyone has any other thoughts or 'ideas', please shout!

EFL had, (has?) great knowledge in regards to Electrics.

Thing is, given that those posters that I've mentioned above, apart from EFL and John, stopped posting all at (about) the same time, it is quite peculiar, yes?

There was another one that got banned - it then kept coming back as a new user name each time - it was a real trouble maker and by all accounts quite mental.
