Do I need a Room Thermostat?

QUESTION FOR GASPIPE

Bamber, how does the boiler (without a flow switch) know the rads are turned of?
Try to answer the question without hurling insults, back up your statement/claim with some knowledge.

You are asking me how the boiler knows that the radiators are turned off, Am I correct in my assumption?

While a bypass may be essential to avoid pump stressing, fitting a flow switch is a new one on me.

I would have though it would be cheaper to fit a roomstat (afterall termination is provided for that purpose), instead of installing a flowswitch. Can anyone suggest what this flow switch is called and where can it be purchased?

Is fitting a roomstat not about saving fuel. What saving would one achieve by having a pump run 24/7
