It's interesting how he sacked that aid after he noticed she was furiously deleting texts on her own phone as he looked at her works phone.

If that's true and she was passing on info to reporters then he did absolutely tgd right thing.

allegedly she was sacked after Cummings found that she was still in contact (whatever that means) with an ex -aide to her old boss? (ie a Tory MP who had been a Minister)

No crime needs to be committed to warrant a sacking. A breach of employment contracted T&C's does.

but I severely doubt that being in contact with a former colleague can be be contracted against.
It would certainly not be against civil service regs

She should have had notice of a disciplinary meeting, had representation and Cummings should not have searched her personal phone
