Double story side extension

Hi all,

New to the forum. We are about to start a double story side extension and house renovation works on our 3 bed semi. We will be building a new lounge and study area to the side, plus a new master bedroom & ensuite above. Will are also opening up the kitchen in to the old lounge/dining area to create a new kitchen / diner.

I will add some pics of the house soon, but here are the plans. (They have changed slightly from these). Will also add pics as we go and hopefully we can get some good ideas & suggestions from the forum.

Existing plans:

A few pics of the house below. The room on the side, which is the old garage and has been made a 'room' by the previous owners will go, along with the porch and be replaced with a 2 story extension and new porch.

Check out the quality brick work!

Good luck with this project Ross. I have a similar two-storey extension just about to start, which is also listed on this forum, so I'm really interested to see how you progress. When do your builders start?

Thanks Chris. I did see your post, looks like an interesting project and will be following it too.

They are hoping to start very soon. We had a slight hold up with building control due to a public sewer which runs past the extension. We should be good to go now though and will update the post once we get underway.

Cheers,
Ross

It finally looks like we will be kicking off tomorrow with the ground works.

So the ground works kicked off last week with the main foundations being dug and filled. They are still on site this week digging the foundations for the porch, putting in the new toilet waste drain, bricking up to damp proof course and doing the oversite.

The bricky is hoping to start in around 2 weeks time.
