chris

well i did the scotch block thin and it all worked

blue seems to be live and brown and green in the block

old stat 1432 right to left in that order

was the hot water on as well as the heating when you tried it this am?

thats why you need a multi meter.

as said was the hw on as well as ch ?

can't see how you can say blue is live.
when you placed brown and g/y together

if ch only on and it fired up that proves brown is live from programmer and g/y is sw/l to mot valve.

can you not check them in your wiring centre ?

well had enough bout 10 this mornong when i blew up the control box

called out an emergency plumber who fixed it all

new control box fitted and original thermostat reinstated

wht do plumbers who wire up these things not stick to traditional wiring instead of using any colour for live neutral earth etc.

i wired it up like a plug but didnt realise plumbers dont do that

fella who fixed it said it wernt my fault

relieved me of £140 not bad for a call out on a sunday

you can use another colour for a neutral etc but mark it up with a sleeve or colour insulation tape to what it is used as now.

thats why a multi meter is vital tool for this job.

£140 going rate sunday morning.
what firm did you use local or national ?

that was parts asw well boilersrus was the name very good service

engineer very good might even give up diy now
