Which is irrelevant. Doing the one or other can be done when you decide to fix the problem - ie when you have got parts, found the time, etc. In the meantime, having an easy means of isolation means you don't have to (as in the example above) switch off a whole circuit (and have the freezer defrost) or pull the cooker out (and then put it back until you are ready to fix the fault).
