Saw this at the stables where Mrs ricicle keeps her horse........

That Swallow had made its nest on the draping piece of 1mm² t+e

(I know t+e in an agricultural environment  - it wasn't me!)

And red, white and blue SWA for anyone who's never seen it.......

I think they should have kept the origional colours. Very patriotic.

Does anyone know why 'they' changed L2 from white to yellow?

I have some R-W-B 3core somewhere if anyone is sad enough to want to see it

From 13th Edition:

The use of yellow was part of the 1963 amendments on 2nd Dec 1963 and

"White may be used as an alternative to yellow until 1st August 1964, after which date fixed cables having white cores will no longer comply"

So, your wiring is pre Aug 1964 unless the same attitude to harmonised colours by some wiremen today is nothing new

The 9th Edition 85 (f) of 1927 had red, white (or yellow) and green for the three phases and black (or blue) for neutral, so I expect there was whinging about colour changes then

The above isnt my knowledge, I asked a question some time ago of somebody far more knowledgable of the older regs than me, about the same conductor colours.

Plenty of wiring of this age is still in factories up and down the land.

It was installed to such a high standard way back when, it is still in perfectly servicable condition today.

Ricicle, Do you have big scary cast iron TP fuse boards with unshrouded busbars and porcelain fuses?

Yes, loads of horrors.I'll get some piccys :D

Seeing some of the piccys you have posted up, We used to until recently have a regular contract in a factory with almost identicle wiring to yours. It was about the same age too

Unfortunatly we no longer work in that factory as the company has outgrown it and moved to new larger premises, so no pics of there from me.

We are going the other way.Our companys factory is too large and old now for it's exacting standards and as we speak we are having a brand new one built just down the road (Can't wait - all new colours, cpcs ran with all circuits, test certificates for every circuit)

I hate to ask, but are friends electric?

No, I digress...

I hate to ask, can I borrow this pic Mr R?

Thats them!!! Do you have any cast iron ones too??

Have you dropped any fuses yet?

(I have)

The supply looks a bit smaller than ours, and our tails were VIR too
