Electric plate question

I'm just a bit of a cynic when people buy fittings for their electrician.

Note the winking smiley.

Yes they say that so we do not go into Part P when they know that they will be doing the work them self even if they are incompitant to do so and will do no testing and inspection and leave the install in a dangerous state. I have been in the trade about 8 years and not one of my customers has ever supplied any parts.

Its like I have been told the spark is on holiday, the spark disappered half way into the job, the spark got abducted by aliens, the spark died or retired. Then asked if I will finish the job and fill out a cert to show its all safe. Christmas Pancake day will have to come first before that happens!

Agree with Stoday on this one. There probally is no spark  If there was a spark he would have said on the quote what was required or given a list of what parts are required.

I've eaten pancakes on Christmas Day.

Its just a saying I picked up from work. Christmas pancake day will never exsist so its never going to happen. We used to put it down on the paper work at work when there was no access to get the job done, example the job will only get done on christmas pancake day, so actually it would never get done as there is no pancake day on christmas day

I am probally a bit cynical.

Boxing day too - Scotch Pancakes with crumbled up Xmas pud in the mix...

And if you think about it, Yorkshire Puddings are just pancakes with a modified topology.

I had all the switches, sockets and light fittings supplied by a customer yesterday :?

These are usually all lies:

It will be tested by a qualified electrician
I'm just finding out how its done, to make sure the spark does it properly
I am aware of Part P
This will all be signed off later
I'm putting this SWA cable in the ground, but someone else will connect the ends
This has already been notified to LABC
This isn't notifiable, because (insert feeble excuse here)
This only stopped working five minutes ago
Of course, I will be contacting LABC about this
I am only installing the shower and cable, someone else will connect the electrics
This is only a temporary installation
This was all installed before I moved in
How do I move my consumer unit (but for info only, I won't actually be doing this)
These lights and switches have been here for years. Nothing has been changed at all.
The person who installed this can't be contacted because they just won £50m on the lottery and moved to Australia

You missed the electrician being abducted by aliens
and the My brothers cousins uncles daughters wife is an electrician but lives 10,000,000 miles away but will come to sign it off when it is done.

I know, but very few people observe it for the original reasons.

So taking the religious aspects out (and even if you don't you'd have to be pathetically incompetent these days to end up with a supply of food that you have to use up, when you must have known full well that Lent was coming) I've always thought it an utterly ridiculous idea.

If you like pancakes, why eat them only once a year?

If you don't like pancakes, why eat them even once a year?
