EOGB Burner with intermittent lock out

Attend site fist thing in the morning after its locked out, remove burner and look at blast tube, if its wet(oil) replace EBI, if its dry change the coil.
These are the 2 most common faults on a sterling for the problem you describe.

This is all brand new to me but the transformer was fine as was the coil. I forgot that when i put on the new pump that would ahve meant a new coil.

Anyway i removed the rusted tube the sits above the photo cell. Apparently because it is rusted it doesnt reflect the light properly and causes lock out problems. Everything running okay, SO FAR!!!!!

Which model burner was it, and if you have the info, which photocell. It's odd that a relatively small amount of light should make such a difference.
