Expensive expenses

Once got called in by the boss to explain why I had taken a ream of A4 paper home, which I used solely for paperwork for work. He wasn't happy, even though i was using "my own" toner on the printer and doing unpaid overtime at home. He warned me not to do it again. :?

Last year, I went on hols to Menorca. Getting onto the plane, I picked up one of the free papers they give out - Metro, if I recall.

A story in it took my eye, about how HMRC staff get away with murder re: expenses claims. The article was written by a leading firm of accountants, and was filled with "£6 for lunch without receipt", "£14 for food if out all day, without receipt", "£100 hotel stay, again without receipt", "sharing car out of office, yet both claiming 40p / mile", etc, etc.

A couple of weeks later, I drove a mate (HMRC employee - "I work in the IT department - I don't do tax!") to a wedding weekend in Gretna.

I ribbed him about getting the trip for free, seeing as he could claim for god-knows-what without receipts.

"It makes sense," he said. "It wastes a lot of money, having to keep and administer receipts, you know."

"Just like my company "wastes" a lot of money, having to keep receipts to satisfy you buggers!"

What's good for the goose etc etc.....

I heard on the news recently that some cabinet minister had his old boiler condemned for being too hot.

She wasn't available for comment.

So, MP's are beginning to repay their expenses. Personally, I think it's after the horse has bolted, and that they should not be selected by their local constituencies to stand in the general election, due to the complete and utter evidence of being bereft of any moral or ethical conscience.

Furthermore, I hope that should any of them require a loan to repay their fraudulent claims, that the banks charge them interest relating to high risk and forthcoming non-existent employment status.

they are all scumbags the lot of them why vote for these,

If MPs have done nothing wrong, what is Gordon Brown apologising for?
(Apart from trying to save face, and seat)

None of them have any credibilty left.....Who to vote for?

Quote...."Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely."

Some might say that if you don't vote, you don't have a voice, but even if you do vote,, you're never listened to anyway. Most of our family have shredded the European (****e) Election polling cards,,,,,, only the cat, the dog and the budgie qualify now.

Roughcaster.

so what do we do trazor?

Gone are any politicians of stature, they are all exposed as charlatans.

I have written 3 times to my MP with no reply.

As you said, short of a revolution the status quo will remain.............

I am severely tempted to vote BNP, just in exasperation, and I wonder how many others will do the same.
And as the BNP are a racist party, it shows my frustrations.
