The pull cord has live and switched live. there is no neutral there.

If you cant get to the ceiling rose or where the wires are joined, you'll have to wire the fan to a fused spur.

It is a requirement of the regs that all terminal connections must be accessible.

And I'd hope where you say "2 wires" you mean 2 wires AND AN EARTH?

joe...........if your talking about pull cord switch no 2 wires and there both red do you think it was general custer who done the elecs

Either find the place that the lighting wires converge (its probably in the light fitting itself, or a junction box in the loft if you have one)

If not, you'll have to take a feed from a socket circuit, and control the fan with a seperate pullswitch. You could put a PIR detector up to control it.

all wires in light. its a flat. concrete ceiling.do you mean a ordinary plug socket?. if so do i put the cable(what size) to a new pull switch.and fit the 2 wires from the fan to that??
