Hi, just had a roofer over to quote for a repair we need. He says that the problem is due to deterioration of the fibreglass valley liner and is proposing replacing it with code 4 lead.

He said that because of the problems with fibreglass liners they are not used anymore due to the limited lifespan which is why he is proposing lead replacements.

A bit of googling suggests that fibreglass liners are still very much in use and preferred by a large number of roofers so I thought I would ask on here as to which material you would use out of preference.

Also, is there a significant price difference between lead and fibreglass ( I am assuming that the labour involved is much the same either way)?

Have got another roofer coming on Wednesday for a second opinion so would like to have some expert knowledge in order to help the decision process. Thanks

Fitted thousands and still going

The only failures i have seen are wrongly fitted ones and blocked dry

Thanks for the feedback.

Second roofer came round today, says that plastic valleys are all that he ever uses and has had no problems with them. His price to fix is less than half of the first guy so I have given him the job.
