I think a lot of issues with little-used cars can be solved by putting some fresh fuel in and bombing round the nearest M-way until the engine is red-hot.

When we got the Mitsubishi, it tested bad for emissions, so I stuck a bottle of Diesel Redex in the tank and it went hell for leather round the M60 till it was nice and hot.
