To start this is my first decorating task to any help is greatly appreciated.

I have removed all the existing wall paper and starting filling in cracks and dinks.

Do i need to fill even the smallest of cracks? Hairline etc?

I assume when all dry i should sand flat, which grade paper should i use?

Ok next, the wall. When i start painting do i have to apply a sealer?Or premix under coat? Then apply main paint after?

Is vinyl matt fine for walls, gloss for my mdf primered skirting and window board?

Any help as i say is appreciated. I will like to complete the task myself ovre this week.

Sand, then fill all but the finest of hairline cracks, sand again line with 1200, 1400 or 1700 depending on how uneven the walls are..
When dry just apply 2-3 coats of trade quality vinyl matt from trade counter (not Homebase Wickes etc !)
You might find that 2 coats of eggshell ( oil/solvent based, no undercoat needed ) will look nicer on the woodwork ;)
