If you can produce a reliable map that shows the borders of what was called Israel five thousand years ago, it might be interesting to compare it with what is today called Israel, and the illegal settlements in the Occupied Territories, and see how they correspond. Or perhaps the people of Israel rightfully belong to Egypt, as slaves.

Usually, however, a piece of land that various different nomadic peoples pitched their tents on at different times in the Bronze Age is not said to belong to the descendants and successors of one of those groups of nomadic peoples to the exclusion of the others. It would be awkward to restore ownership of the land of the United States to the descendants of the nomadic tribes who lived there before it was invaded by Europeans. What time period would you choose when deciding which ethnic group ought to own various parts of the British Isles?

their small patch of land

Opinions differ on whose land it is.
As I pointed out, the bible says there was a land called Israel. Am I wrong? So then Israel belongs to the Israeli's In the 1940's therefore, they took back what was rightfully theirs. ;);)

If you remember your biblical history, God gave Israel to the Israelites.
He led them out of slavery in Egypt to Canaan, (giving them hell in the desert for forty days and forty nights, then He gave them the ten commandments, and led them to Canaan, which was the promised land incorporating Lebanon, Israel (as is now), Syria and Jordan.
So if you argue that Israel belongs to the Jews, because God gave it them, then you must also argue that Lebanon, Syria and Jordan belongs to the Jews.

The problem is that bible doesn't tell us who owned the land called Canaan when God gave it away.
We know who owned it when the UN gave it away.

Encyclopedias tend to suggest that the Israelites were a politically/religiously united group or tribe rather than a nation prior to their arrival in Canaan.

Ancient history of who did what to who and why in the area of where modern Israel is put aside. If you look at what the Israelis have done with their small patch of land in a few short years and then look at what the Arabs have done with theirs over thousands of years, it does make you wonder
Yeah Dubai and AbuDhabi are right dumps innit.

Are the Jews and Arabs not genetically identical?

Bloody religion again.
Yes the males are both circumcised at a young age.

Oh sorry, I thought you said genitally identical.

And the aversion to bacon. Don't Jews make the women sleep in a different room to their husbands once a month?

But the nice parts of the UAE of which Dubai and Abu Dhabi are but two Emirates weren't built by Arabs.
European/ American engineers and construction companies built most of what you see today. Lebanese had a hand in too but usually projects that didn't need to last too long. In the main the labour force is Indian or from the Philippines, Pakistani labour is usually avoided due to their attitude to manual labour. The Rulers are either US or UK educated and the UAE has for many years been supported by The British, indeed the UK intervened in 1987 to support Sheikh Khalid bin Muhammad al-Qasimi in a coup... Its neighbour Oman is as far as I know still a British protectorate.. So yes, the Europeans have made some nice towns over there but don't kid yourself that it was sweat off an Arabs brow..

Abu Dhabi is the senior partner In the UAE due to an abundance of oil. Without that oil, yes the UAE would be as awful as most other Arab nations.
