We have just spent lots of time sanding the old parquet flooring which was under the carpet in our 1950 house. Not sure what the wood is - it was dark but went light after sanding (sanded oak colour with a hint of cherry). We have put one coat of clear Osmo Hardwax oil on the floor and the colour has turned very dark/bright red. The bright redness is overpowering the room and I was wondering if there is a better finish we could use so that it is not as dark or bright red?
If there is a better finish, will we need to sand off the finish just put on?
