AFAICR, every switch I've looked at closely enough to notice has been wired in pyro..

Andrew, Firemans switch should be in Pyro mate, that way it will still operate in the fiercest of fires.
what about using fp200? there is no pyro on this job (just fp200) and my pyro stuff is 100 miles away... altho if it must be done in pyro then obviously ill have to get Some. also since its to switch neons and the idea is to cut the power, surely it doesnt need to operate in fire conditions...

When I installed my latest fire switch, I took advice from GMC fire service. They advised that it was acceptable to wire it in T & E, and I used special stuffing glands with a flat profile sealing ring. It was passed by the fire officer.

I think this is yet another example of no National Standard for Fire Regs as imposed by Fire Officers.
Personally I have always installed Neon supplies in Pyro, afterall they are usually, though not always, external, and the firemans switches have always been specified as Pyro. Only once have I known a fire officer accept FP200.
If your local FO will accept an alternative, then go with that as is is sure to be easier.
