So, this may sound like I'm over thinking the job but hear me out ...

I've got 2.5mm2 SWA to run along a section of wall that is stone with cement render.

Using SS screws and plugs I am going to fit the SWA to the render.

Should I give any consideration to the fact that by using plugs and screws I am creating a channel for moisture ingress which would lead to the render being blown over time ? Even if angling the drill hole water always finds a way in..

I was thinking some mastic or external silicone may be beneficial as you would do an outside double socket installation. Thoughts ?

I don't think it's ever been a problem.

The biggest problem is the screws eventually rusting.

I wouldn't worry about it either. The biggest problem you may have is drilling into it without it cracking somewhere, may need some non hammer action pilot holes into it first

Blob of silicone round the screw hole if you want to stop any potential water ingress.
