My dad reckons that 'real' flu is so bad that if there was a £50 note in your front garden you wouldn't be able to go out and fetch it - how bad do you feel?
As for twice in one month, it does sound like bad luck! Get well soon.
toasty! your Dad is right, I've only had it twice in my life and couldnt get out of bed, didnt want to eat,and expected to die, a lot of people think they have Flu when its really a bad cold (which is bad enough but not anything like as bad as flu). I'm a poulty keeper now (two chickens) so am on the list for free flu jabs,
btw not suggesting your doing a sicky rob884
Toasty, that is very true, if you could see my employment record I've had flu 30 times.
In fact, I've had it once, had to crawl to the kasi, rang the doctor, I said "doctor I think I'm paralised, I'm dying" she said "You've got flu, drink plenty of liquid and stay warm" me "but, but," her "You'll feel much better tomorrow" she was right.
Be careful with that flu jab! They say that the flu jab can't give you full blown flu (the kind where you can't get out of bed) but it can certainly give you something resembling a mild flu which is comparable to a bad cold.
I had the flu jab a few years back and within hours started feeling sh*te - lasted 2 weeks. Getting proper flu is quite rare so the chances of getting it does not encourage me to have an annual flu jab and run the risk of getting ill.
I've has pneumonia before which is why the docs invite me for the flu jab. Talk about flu, Pneumonia kicks flu's ass!
I sympathise with you rob, I'm on my second cold of the month too. Only had 4 days respite in between. Merry Christmas!
They said on BBC breakfast the other week that:
If you've just had a cold/flu than you are weaker and more susceptible to
getting a different strain of cold/flu.
So once you've had one cold you can enter a vicious cycle, especially if you go places where there are lots of people.
Funny thing! when I smoked it was very rare for me to get even a cold, and then when I gave up I seem to get one every other day and had flu, but now (touch wood) I seem to have settled down and rarely get anything.
