For those with an open mind...

As long as they take place, although the electoral system in the UK is not exactly a democratic one...
Agreed, but that's not going to change anytime soon.

And Local/Mayoral/PCC elections are likely to be 'postponed' again this year, and who knows what will happen with the next GE...
As for mayoral elections, that's not a bad decision in the current circumstances. I don't supose anyone will complain much.
As for local/ General elections, that's a claim too far.

The Emergency legislation allows for 'flexibility'...
That's the idea.

As for 'peaceful protest' then that is effectively banned, and has never really succeeded. It's only when the establishment is truly threatened do they act!
Social distancing, mask-wearing, peaceful protest is allowed.
Granted, in general the government of the day tend to put the issue back on the backburner.
Hopefully some support of MP has been achieved.

Sadly a lot of what is in that video has come to pass...
Can't comment, haven't watched it all, don't intend to, and it's no longer available.
But, as a general comment. it's not what has been predicted and what has occurred, but the interpretation that you place on those occurrences.

Take for example the use of surveillance techniques 'in the name of the virus'...
Well go on then......

Prediction has become reality in some countries and is spreading...
See comment above on predictions and occurrences.

"Civil servants also discussed Poland's 'enhanced isolation' system, in which people are contacted daily and told to send a picture of themselves where they are isolating.
The pictures are cross-referenced using GPS data and facial-recognition software and are visited by police within 20 minutes if they fail to comply.
Officials discussed the ideas at a meeting on Thursday
They can discuss any ideas that they think is potentially useful.
and it is understood the technology would be confined to new arrivals, not anyone ordered to self-isolate in the UK. "
Is that accurate reporting? Your use of "would be" suggests that is just ideas floated.

But what happens when the technology becomes 'useful' in other ways?
That can be applied to all sorts of 'technology'. Some of the other applications are extremely useful. That's the idea of 'application development'.

Or maybe the predictions that ellal has been warning us about are becoming true, and they've been closed down.
Yep...

Although it's still available elsewhere...

Linky Linky

It just keeps having to be moved around...

Funny how different views are slowly being censored...

I didn't agree with Trump's b ullshit being banned, because low and behold tens of thousands of other accounts were also suddenly suspended/deleted...

You have to be able to access all views in order to counter them if necessary!

Hmm...

"Local, mayoral and Police and Crime Commissioner elections that were due to take place in May this year will be postponed until May 2021, the Government has confirmed today."

If nothing much changes regarding the 'virus' between now and May 2021, then what do you think will happen?
Will it suddenly be ok to vote under the same circumstances as when it wasn't allowed to take place last year?
Watch this space!

And the emergency legislation does allow for other 'contingencies' to come into play should the 'virus' still be hanging around in a few years time.
That can be applied to all sorts of 'technology'. Some of the other applications are extremely useful. That's the idea of 'application development'.
Ever heard of the term 'function creep'?

Basically if something isn't ruled out it will invariably happen!

You're assuming that function creep is inevitably bad or wrong.
That's a mistake.
Application development usually weighs up the useful and develops those, and dismisses the non-useful applications.
