Hi,

I've had mixed advice as to whether I can do the following myself (profession IT computer & network installer) and if it is breach of Part P.

I'm basically placing a spur from a breakfast area double socket (kitchen with dining room called breakfast area and the socket is about 10m to 15m from kitchen area) into an under stairs large cupboard. The spur will have a 13amp FCU and two double sockets at 45cm from ground.

Any advice would be most welcome.

Cheers,
Gary

Seems to fall under the permitted work without notification

2. Work which -
(a) is not in a kitchen, or a special location,

(b) does not involve work on a special installation, and

(c) consists of -
(i) adding light fittings and switches to an existing circuit; or

(ii) adding socket outlets and fused spurs to an existing ring or radial circuit;
Kitchen being anything within 3m of a sink in your setup so get yer tape measure out to be sure.

Part P applies in that it has to be 'safe'

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. It's definately more than 3m from the sink.

Cheers,

Gary
