Gas pipe under woodburner

It is one pipe running all the way under hearth and then there was another one coming off at right angle straight under where the fire was. So that's gone now, they furthest back they could cap it was back to the main long pipe under the hearth. As far as I know gas running all along that pipe.
Sorry, I'm probably not explaining this very well at all, I'm not at all technical with this kind of stuff!
