I'm lucky, having an oil boiler. For some reason anyone can work on it.

Seems wrong to me, because a blocked flue would affect both a gas and an oil boiler in the same way.

I have an old boiler as well. But she won't let even me work on her! Let alone anyone else.

Now that sounds like a blocked flue.

it's legal to work on gas without reg. with your ACSs as long as you don't take money, or it's not part of a job that's being charged, it is legal

So if I DIY it and don't charge myself a fee, it's legal?

hmmm...if you DIY your own you wouldn't charge a fee would you?

point is, if you have the ACS for the appliance, you can do every one in the country, if you want to, as long as there is no money involved, and as long as the work complies with gas regs.
don't let anyone tell you different. it's in the gas regs, but people mis-interpret it, for some reason.

When I watch Watchdog, I always think entrapment, and some of the 'fixes' they come up with are misjudged to say the least. Their argument are misplaced, and offensive, with no grounds in fact, and the team bang on about misplaced arguments that are flawed. Watchdog is fatally flawed, but the same as faulty workmen.
