GasSafe engineer won’t notify a boiler change

Bought my first home in Feb and it’s been a nightmare so the next thing to go wrong is of course my boiler. GasSafe engineer fit the boiler all correctly but never notified GasSafe of the boiler change (from a system to combi), I kept asking him to do it and he kept telling me he’s done it but nothing. He registered my Bosch warranty and thats it’s.

I then noticed the builder, who scammed me, cut my condensate pipe for whatever reason and left it, so I needed this engineer to come back to fix it anyway… I first phoned GasSafe and asked them if the condensate pipe was meant to be fit by the engineer, as at first I believed the engineer just didn’t connect it up. So I told the engineer this and he got really nasty with me assuming I reported him to GasSafe (I did not even mention his company name or anything to do with him). So I got another engineer to fix it up as I really don’t like this other guy but he couldn’t sign off the boiler to GasSafe.

I’m not too sure what to do next. The guy phoned me again ****ed with me, telling me he’s tired of these ****ing calls after I asked him again to notify GasSafe. Also he had spoke to the builder, who scammed me, and the builder told the engineer I was plotting against the engineer and cut the pipe myself. Ridiculous.

But I’m in a situation where I really don’t want to deal with this guy who fit my boiler but I’m also very anxious to put a complaint in as he’d still have to come round and sort it as he doesn’t seem like a nice bloke. Is there any other option I can take with maybe getting a third party in?

Sometimes it's better to cut your losses unless you don't give a **** and revel in chaos.

You clearly don't revel in it so just let it go and move on.

The plumbing and gas industry is mostly full of job-knock ******s. Having something at least serviceable from the cowboy industry is a win.

It's like buying a new house. You get an engineer in to force the builder to do the 1st fix properly. You spend the next 20 years making the 2nd fix right.

I’m fine with moving on but I need someone to notify gas safe. And I was told it can only be done by the engineer who fit it

I would explain your concerns to gas safe. If the boiler is registered for Bosch warranty, I don’t see why it wouldn’t be notified by gas safe for building regulations certificate

That is a very fair point. He did tell me numerous times he did report it to GasSafe but every time GasSafe said no but I do have a warranty certificate. I'll mention this to GasSafe tomorrow

Have you verified that he is actually gas safe registered?

Has he completed the benchmark at the back of the boiler's MI? Easy to check his registration number with GS. If not then it all depends on how far you want to take it.

If he is Gas Safe Registered (GSR) and hasn't notified the install then you want to know why not. If he still isn't forthcoming and you can't find his number then you threaten to notify GS of a suspected illegal install.

If he's legit then I don't see what his problem is and then getting shirty about it.

Yeah, he's registered checked it via company name, his name & his phone number all match to the company on the GasSafe register and I have his number. I wonder if this guy actually fit the boiler or if it was the builder & no he never filled the benchmark out.

I've basically given him the ultimatum. He tried telling me he'll do it after xmas and I've just I want it doing today.

It costs him less than 3 quid to register it and less than 5 minutes .
